Notes on the Meeting at Barnsclose Playground
26th August 2009 at 10 am
Present; - Bernard How, Tony Snell and Chris Nelder.
-
The weather was wet and grey.
We measured the fence, from the garages to the corner Barnsclose Mead access road and from the same corner the first garden of Barnsclose Mead housing.
The findings are as follows: - Garages to Corner 35 metres Corner to 1st House 32 metres.
These 2 stretches of fencing are chain link and both are in very poor condition, with a pedestrian and a field gate (both wooden) in one length. - The three trees behind the garages require uplifting. Similarly the fence between the trees and the garages, have very large saplings growing out and require removal.
- The hedge to east of the ground (adjoining the path to Millhams Lane) is very overgrown and requires either laying or extensive lopping and trimming. This part of the boundary is in DTC ownership.
- Half the lower hedge (to the south of the ground) is in DTC ownership and is in an extremely overgrown condition. It requires extensive clearance and lopping back with some remedial tree work undertaken. The other half of this same hedge is in DTC ownership on our side to the middle and the other half belongs to the adjoining field owner. This requires the same treatment as the above.
- It is recommended that the hedge to the west of the ground is only pared back, as the adjoining field is likely to be built on for Magna Housing, and they did give an indication that they may wish to have access to the playground from the new development. Adjacent to this hedge are two large trees that overhang the adjacent gardens, one is recommended for removal and the other requires uplifting or removal.
- Summary. It was suggested that we get a specification prepared for each individual length of hedge and fence, and put them out for three lots of tender. The thought was that the fencing be un-climbable and metal. At a guess, overall, it is expensive!
